Spreadsheets: Goals and Testing

Here at TrainHeroic, we're firm believers in the power of deliberate practice in action. We believe that by setting goals, structured training, expert instruction, and immediate feedback, your athletes will continually make progress toward being their best.

With Spreadsheets, you can set goals for each of your athletes and you can also test athletes, tracking progress toward their goals and giving immediate feedback based on their performance.

Testing is for coaches who want to enter data on how their athletes are performing on testing days. It's also nice for logging historical data.

Goal Setting:

In order to improve, your athletes need something to work towards. With goal setting, you can see where your athletes are today and then set goals for them to be completed by some future date that you choose.

Here's how you can tap into these powerful tools:

From CoachHeroic, click on Spreadsheets from the menu on the left hand side.

Next, select Create New

You'll be asked to name the spreadsheet, specify if it's for goals or testing and select the date that the testing will take place or when the goals will be due. Then select GO TO SPREADSHEET.

Once the new spreadsheet is created, click to Add/Remove Athletes on the upper left-hand corner.

Choose your team and athletes and select Done.

At the top of the page, select Add Benchmark/Exercise

From here, you can search for a benchmark that's already in our system or click on New to add a new benchmark.

On Testing Day:

Simply record the score for each benchmark as they are performed

Click on the Paperclip icon to leave notes for a particular athlete and benchmark

Type I, D or A  in a cell to mark the athletes as Injured, Did Not Complete or Absent

Want your athletes to log this data?

Select the button that says Spreadsheet Only and select Push to Tablet and Phone.

This will create a private workout so the athlete can log their numbers from their phone or the Team Training App.

Any numbers that they log will appear on your spreadsheet.

For Goal Setting:

If the athlete has performed a benchmark in the past, it will show up on the spreadsheet on the right hand side. This way, you can set an appropriate goal based on where they're currently at with the benchmark.  For each cell, simply click to enter a new goal.

Any goals or test scores entered into a spreadsheet will be reflected on the athletes numbers page found under My Athletes.

Want to follow up the testing day with some goal setting or vice versa? Use the New Tab feature at the bottom of the spreadsheet. This will copy all of your athletes and benchmarks over the new spreadsheet.

As always, if you have any questions on spreadsheets or anything else, please send us an email to or call 1-855-688-5438.
