Create competition and a sense of community by programming a leaderboard section for team sessions.
We recommend including 1 Leaderboard section per team session, so athletes can engage with their teammates and feel like they're part of a larger community.
Here we'll cover:
- What's a Leaderboard?
- How to Program a Leaderboard Section
- The Athlete's Leaderboard Experience
- How to review the Leaderboard
What's a Leaderboard?
A Leaderboard can be applied to an Exercise, Circuit, or Superset, and allows athletes on a Team to record their scores for that particular training block. Those scores are then ranked, so athletes can see how they stack up against their teammates. They can also give each other virtual fist-bumps for their heroic efforts.
A Leaderboard section might ask for a the time that it takes for an athlete to run 1 mile. Or for the heaviest set of Back Squat on a particular day. We recommend varying those parameters, so athletes get a chance to play to their strengths, whether they're heavy lifters or speed demons.
Leaderboards are specific to the session, so every day is an opportunity for a fresh start!
Note: Athletes training independently on a Program, or 1:1 will NOT share a Leaderboard with other athletes.
How to Program a Leaderboard Section:
From the session designer, each training block will have the option to apply a Leaderboard, denoted by the yellow trophy.
The dropdown will allow you to turn on the Leaderboard, and apply the parameter that athletes will be competing on.
We recommend including Leaderboard instructions in the Exercise, Circuit, or Superset Instructions, like in the example shown above. This will help ensure that your athlete have clear instructions, and that their results reflect the same format.
The Athlete's Leaderboard Experience:
We understand that not all athletes like standing in the spotlight. Rest assured, the Leaderboard is an optional section for all athletes on a Team.
Leaderboard section inputs will appear below the training block, as blue button with a yellow trophy, indicating the Leaderboard parameter. Once an athlete records their score in the Leaderboard, the button will turn green, illuminating their score, and posting it to the Leaderboard.
Selecting the avatars above will allow the athlete (and coach) to view the Leaderboard for that training block.
Make sure that your athletes are aware of each training session's Leaderboard section and that they bust their tails to compete for their spot atop the Leaderboard.
Review the Leaderboard:
As a coach, you're automatically added to each of your Teams. This will allow you to review training sessions, including the Leaderboard.
To review a Leaderboard section, simply head to your training calendar, and select the Leaderboard sections from the session overview, denoted by the blue trophy icon. Then select the avatars above the Leaderboard button to view the full Leaderboard:
You will also be able to review Leaderboard sections from your athlete's 1:1 training calendars on mobile. Use the avatar in the upper left-hand corner to switch profiles:
Boost your athlete's spirits with a fist-bump, and continually reward their efforts by calling out those who've made progress on the Leaderboard through Session Comments.
